On Sunday 14th May 2017 I decided to do a walk I’ve wanted to do for a long time a walk on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Well along side the canal not actually on the canal 😀

I got on the train at Kidsgrove at 9:45am which is the London Midland train from Crewe to London Euston and this got me to Stone train station for 10:03am.

After a short walk through Stone I reached the Trent and Mersey Canal at Bridge 98 and proceeded to walk towards Kidsgrove, passing through Stoke City Centre and finally reaching Kidsgrove at just after 3:30pm. Google (link below) says this walk is 16.2 miles but on the day the tracking app on my Mobile phone said 19.6 miles which takes into account the additional mileage to reach Kidsgrove train station and the additional mileage at Etruria, Watergate Park and Bathpool Park. Slight deviations from the Google Maps route.

It was a beautiful sunny day apart from the last 10 minutes when it rained.

A great days walk with some great industrial heritage scenery as well as great countryside views either side of Stoke on Trent.
