Time lapse video of the Falkirk Wheel, near Falkirk in Scotland. The real-time for this is almost 14 minutes from the lock at the top becoming locked through to the boat exiting the lack at the bottom. Overall time at 5x speed is 3 minutes.
The Falkirk Wheel is an engineering marvel which transfers boats some 24 metres from the Forth and Clyde Canal to the Union Canal.
Despite its imposing size and stature, the Falkirk wheel uses about the same electricity as it would take to boil 8 kettles to rotate 180 degrees and lift or lower boats from the canals.
This was filmed on 3rd January 2018 hence the height of the sun in the sky.
